Background education
Acceptance into the program is granted by the PRLEA director after completion of a written application, personal or phone interview, medical examination, and payment of applicable program fees. Completion of the program is a prerequisite for seasonal law enforcement positions with the National Park Service.



qualification requirements for the PRLEA and Seasonal Law enforcement park ranger positions include the following
- Students must be 21 years of age by the time of PRLEA program completion
- Students must be a U.S. citizen
- Students must have a clear criminal history and pass a background investigation (no felony convictions or serious misdemeanors including, but not limited to, drug, domestic violence or firearm violations.)
- Students must be in good physical condition and be able to pass the Physical Efficient Battery
- Students must be good physical condition and be able to pass the AZ POPAT
- Students must meet the U.S Department of the Interior/National Park Service Medical Standards
- Students must meet the AZ POST medical requirements
- Students must be able to pass a drug screening test.
