Background education

Acceptance into the program is granted by the PRLEA director after completion of a written application, personal or phone interview, medical examination, and payment of applicable program fees. Completion of the program is a prerequisite for seasonal law enforcement positions with the National Park Service.

qualification requirements for the PRLEA and Seasonal Law enforcement park ranger positions include the following

Students must be 21 years of age by the time of PRLEA program completion
Students must be a U.S. citizen
Students must have a clear criminal history and pass a background investigation (no felony convictions or serious misdemeanors including, but not limited to, drug, domestic violence or firearm violations.)

Students must be in good physical condition and be able to pass the Physical Efficient Battery
Students must be good physical condition and be able to pass the AZ POPAT

Students must meet the U.S Department of the Interior/National Park Service Medical Standards
Students must meet the AZ POST medical requirements
Students must be able to pass a drug screening test.
